Something I experimented with Adobe Photoshop 6.0 after being inspired by the portrait of Indran Shadan on the Nike Wall in City Link.
15 Jan 2007
I’ve always wanted to take a shot something like this for my upcoming debut rap album - She’s not good enough.
Year 2006 celebrations for Christmas Eve & New Year’s Eve were a little different compared to previous experience. Allow me unveil these reasons slowly at a time.
Left to Right: Caroline, Saliza, Tracey. Can anyone make a wild guess where’s this??? The only hint is that it’s a very popular place & we went there on New Year’s Eve.
A clue to answer your question on why this blog issue has been outdated. Numerous of pictures were consolidated to share with you full accounts on the events that had ocurred.
& we were exactly like "Tom Jones with The Cardigans - Burning Down The House".
On both occasions, I spent a lot of time with Saliza because she somehow was ‘able’ to stay out the nights. It was her first experience on staying overnight for such occasions. My sixth sense told me that she had a poor experience and had somehow related to the next reason.
Saliza bought a camera branded Casio from an IT fair in Expo back in November. We are still figuring out functions and capabilities of this slick black sharpshooter. I have no idea of photography. Basically I treat it as a handphone camera and try to catch some pictures of ourselves.
NYE Fireworks in National Museum. Up-close, no over-crowding, shelter over head, no wet panties & bra. Best way to celebrate during a monsoon rain season.
Lady scratching the DJ console. Genre was electronic & house. My cousin, Carson, probably loves this.
Now to the second reason, planning was confusing. 2006 was supposed to be full of surprises as there were plenty of invites to house parties over Christmas Eve as well as NYE. Unfortunately, I must decline all as I had already given my word to an old secondary schoolmate, Steven Tay, who volunteered to plan this year end’s festive celebrations. Although this casted doubts if we should entrust him given past incidents, it was nevertheless delightful to hear his passionate suggestions in early November to spend Christmas Eve in his friend’s pub and NYE countdown in the newly-built Siloso Beach Resort in Sentosa that has a great overview of beach and southern islands. Now that Mr. Tay had a concrete plan with adequate response from all, it seemed like nothing could deter the success.
HelloMOTO. I’m kinda attached to my Motorola V600 even though it has been subjected harsh treatments such as
"Smack that all on the floor, Smack that gimme somemore, Smack that till you get sore, Smack that ohhhhh…." Lyrics taken from Smack That by Akon feat. Eminem.
No word was heard since then. Things slided downhill after he got attached. A few days before Christmas Eve and still there weren’t any reservations. His efforts and promises blown away like sawdust. Within our group, voices spoken of disappointment. Perhaps it’s true that he couldn’t lead.
A street stall selling mysterious glasses with lights randomly flashing around as if in a trance.
Guess the gender of this pretty lady behind me. How many agree with me that she’s a female? Er… Saliza told me that she’s a male. Anyway, I got her attention by tugging her pink dress like a little child asking for candy because she’s like so tall walking on stilts.
A couple of days left and yet to come up with a suggestion to bind the Rebels together for Christmas Eve. That urge to stand out and plan for something was again thumping in my heart. I thought to myself, "I were to do so, I’m probably cleaning up the mess Steven created. But what the heck?" Something in my heart still resisted the temptation to step up for leadership… Slowly and vividly, a scene of a particular girl telling me off on how I failed to plan as my ideas are always last-minute. It was unforgettable because her actions spoilt my mood and ideals. A psychology barrier that separated me on being active.
This may sound surprising but I turn my focus to reading novels whenever I feel down.
Currently reading Lord Of The Rings: Fellowship of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. Make a guess how long it takes for me to complete just this novel itself.
Fortunately, there were some initiatives shown by unexpected sources like Keith Goh, Bang Tong, Kian ‘The Protege’ Hao and Ah Lao. Credits given to these guys as they tries to save festive spirit.
Nights before Christmas
8 Christmas Trees which caught my glimpse during the walk. BLING BLING BALLS!!!
Have you seen sakura blooming during spring? Here’s a Singapore version mock-up. I can feel how Tony Tony Chopper of One Piece felt when he saw pink sakura blooms over Drum Island.
Enjoying a bottle of diet coca cola in Centrepoint Shopping Center. It has been extended and resides some pretty cool shops such as GAP. Gavin, are you still shopping for men’s cardigan?
221206 (Thursday): Readings of my festive mood meter was fluctuating up and down like taking a ride in the G-Max because of how Steven handled this year’s festive celebrations. It seemed irresponsible. To knock off some disappointments, I brought Saliza down to Orchard Road for appreciation of Christmas lighting. It’s always pleasant to view Christmas trees with shiny decors balls, candy canes, mock present boxes, glitters, etc. Emma (Bar manager of Xen Bar) tagged along with her cousin too.
That’s Salleh, Emma’s cousin. He owns a motorcycle and often gives lifts to Emma after work at around 11pm. We kicked off a good conversation as I discovered he loves sports. We share some common sports such as soccer and especially rugby. At that moment, I was interested in American Football as a quarterback because of my finger injury. Hmmm… this’ another story for another blog. =D
Picture’s kinda blurry. We got a girl to take this photo for us with this exceptional lovely pink Christmas tree as background.
Emma (In white spaghetti) - Bar manager of Xen Bar.
Christopher231206 (Friday): There were some suggestions about clubbing away in MOS (Ministry of Sound). I practically had enough of clubbing for that month (Salsa in MOS). Christmas Eve isn’t really a big deal to go out. So we settled for OTOT (Own Time Own Target). On that same night, invited me over to St. Joseph’s St Margaret Church for Xmas. I had to decline as I already agreed to spend Christmas countdown with Emma in Xen Bar located along Pagoda Street.
Christmas Dinner @ NYDC, The Heeren. Spaghetti - one of Saliza’s listed TOP10 food. Whoa! Look at her drink… Foamy with whipped cream and chocolate fudge at the bottom. Ain’t that SINFUL girls?!
Hooray!!! Here comes mine! Spaghetti with GIANT meatballs!!!!!!!! I fancy Italian food so much that I even imagined myself living in Milan or Turin.
Shiny balls & furry decors in the restaurant. It is totally romantic and dissolves my heavy heart away.
241206 (Saturday): Approximately 3pm, Keith & Bang Tong got onto everyone’s handphones and tied them up for a late-night movie screening of THE FLYBOYS @ Cathay Cineleisure. Saliza & I met them up after Xmas Countdown in Xen Bar. I really made Emma regretted for inviting me because I ate up practically everything and left almost none for other guests. Hehe! Food was so delicious that Maurie had to cook additional hot sauce prawns in order to satisfy my hunger. After countdown, we walked from Chinatown to Somerset. Transport was a hassle. A lot of people were situated around Clarke Quay, Marina Square & City Hall.
Henry is the man besides me, who polishes up my salsa fundamentals and privately coaches on intermediate moves. Through his teachings, I feel a little more at ease to switch moves accordingly to the music.
Testing out Saliza’s camera while she went to the ladies. Here’s a shot of the Xmas lighting along Orchard Road from my table.
It took us more than half an hour to reach a overwhelming crowded Orchard Cineleisure. The cinema was located at Level 9. Kinda unique because I have never caught any films on that level. BTW, it was the same level where people play LAN games. The events to follow were rather routine. Slack around before pursuing a transport home.
Another wallpaper I created with Adobe Photoshop, this time I merge 2 pictures. Can you spot the fine crack?
Another shot of the decors. This picture is focusing on the golden dove swaying in the breeze. Weather had pretty stiff winds during December as one could recall the constant downpour.
An Eve In The Museum
Can’t really figure out what this potrait about but it’s decorated on the floors of the entrance of National Museum. Looks like Karmasutra though…
Visual arts - Entrappement in a bubble.
National Museum’s iconic landmark.
A weekend before NYE we decided to have a steamboat at Ah Lao’s house. It had been 3 years since then and thinking back brought good memories. Unfortunately communications as well as response were relatively poor. So secondary NYE plans for steamboat was scrapped.
A revamped National Museum interior. People chilling around the stage before the main performance.
Peek-A-Cam! Caroline’s a shutterbug.
The 2 ladies behind refuses to part ways with their champagne. I believe that has something to do with their glamourous way of dressing. Classy eh? Or classy lor?
311206 (Sunday): Upon knowing that I had no plans for NYE 2006, Caroline invited me to join Tracey & her. NYE started off with dinner at AIWO in Raffles Shopping Center. As Caroline was still busy working for her under-paid job, her reservation was promptly offered to me. I always prefer Saliza to eat healthy meals. So without hesitation, we took up that table. Culinary were majestically stored in a personal drawer. The table was a great attraction too. It was made of glass. Haha! Those customers who accustom ventilating their feet may want to adjust their normal dining habits.
This plate of potato crackers was a complimentary for dining @ AIWO, Raffles Shopping Center on New Year’s Eve.
Oh yeah! Check out the sandals… Eh, this is the table of glass I mentioned not too long ago. If you see to the top right of this picture, you may catch a glimpse of the personal drawer of majestic culinary.
Check out the delicacies. See those mushrooms on my right? They melt in your mouth and slide gently in your tongue. It’s a sensation! Anyone going to AIWO… MUST TRY THAT!!! It’s the only starter serving mushroom.
I was introduced that Merlot is a sweet red wine that mostly win preference of ladies. Thus, I ordered a glass for this sweet lady. She commented the red wine was too bitter and mine was even far worse. Having no other choices, she sipped as much or little as possible. Until I had emptied my glass of Chardonnay, she gestured an offer for me to continue with her Merlot such as shown above.
A lot of people probably thought countdown in National Museum was loony. Well I did. But all doubts were thrown aside after seeing a DJ console set up a distance away from the main entrance.
"Hey Mr DJ, put a record on cuz I wanna dance with my baby. And when the music starts, I never wanna stop. It’s gonna drive me crazy." Lyrics taken from Music by Madonna
This was the 1st performance that we saw once stepping into the bigger gallery of the National Museum. As one can see, it’s pretty smokey in here but it ain’t due to thousands of smokers puffing off their cigarettes simultaneously.
This would be the DJ console I was referring to.
Check out the visuals they had!
The captivating attraction on the last night of 2006 was a performance by a group of European artistes dancing against forces of gravity. Reckoned the gathered crowd was an approximate capacity of a thousand? Perhaps guilty of not meeting up since her return from UK studies, Caroline bought us the first round of drinks. The crowd was of various ages. A few people grooved to the pumping electro beats. No dance floor was created. Caroline wanted me to start one but I figured I was a little shy. Time strucked twelve. Bangtong was on his way up to meet me when fireworks suddenly sparked and lit up the dark gloomy skies. Saliza seemed awe with front row view of fireworks. Now why would anyone wanna pack up in a can of sardines in Esplande under permitting drizzle just for glimpse of fireworks when you could have the same under the gigantic roof in National Museum? I pondered who’s more loony now? Of course standing in the rain with your loved ones sounds romantic. But that romance lasts only the second they got drenched in rain, girlfriends would scowled at boyfriends’ foolishness of wetting their bras and panties.
Safety body harness, check. Wrist guard, check. Groin guard, check.
Let’s get it started guys! Wooo!!!
Selection trials for Spiderman 4.
*Shrieking screams* >>> Pontinak!!!!
Gravity defying theory in practical.
No wonder this great couple was disqualified from the DANCEFLOOR competition because they were dancing Lindy-Hop against the wall. Judges only gave points on performance ACTUALLY done on the DANCEFLOOR.
Afterwards, we scouted Clarke Quay for more alcohols and merry drinking. There was a public dance floor at the heart of Clarke Quay. Saliza seemed exhausted from walking in heels. Having similar eccentric characters, Caroline, Bangtong & I bashed into the midst and allowed the bounce to take us to whatever heights it might bring. We had no idea what the hell was going on anyway.
Answer to the question "How long it takes to complete LOTR: Fellowship of The Ring", is 8 months. UNBELIEVEABLE
Luckily it didn’t rain that night, my mood might have worsened… Back in December, lots of my schedules had to be canceled due to raining cats & dogs. However, I know a girl who loves rain so much that she doesn’t mind walking around the flood and getting drenched.
Ladies (Pose saying): "HAPPY NEW YEAR 2007 EVERYONE!"
